Phuket Island, Thailand

It is Saturday and sunny on Phuket, the largest island in Thailand. We arrived two days ago by plane (although it looks close on the map, the bus ride takes 14 hours and is overnight... we had enough long bus rides in Argentina), relaxed around Phuket Town and are now at Kata Beach where there are many restaurants both on the sand and off.

Here are a few pictures:

Our hotel at Kata Beach... it is right on the beach, has a pool, is the equivalent of $16/night, and our towels are kissing swans.

We'll bounce back to Europe for Monday's post.

Right now we're off to the beach.

Cheers,
Tom

  1. I'm so glad you made it there! Love the swans. Enjoy the beach - be sure to go diving and snorkeling. :)

  2. When you got a hotel, did you have a gigantic key that you had to stick in a slot in the room to turn on the electricity? This is what the hotel was like when I stayed about an hour north of Bangkok. I also found the cabs interesting and love the little light cabs have on the front windshield. I was offered a couple rides on a motorcycle-taxi, but quickly declined, after seeing how crazy they were. Were there lots of pickup trucks as well? I was told pickup trucks are somewhat of a new fad, and north of bangkok a majority of vehicles were pickups.
